I think by now both Hungry Waif and I have ground it into your heads that Carb a Whey is number 1 in our hearts. We both literally eat it once a day. It’s perfect for the summer when the heat is getting to us, and you’d probably laugh at us in the winter when we’re bundled up in blankets with a big bowl of it. But I know some people have really gotten into the new plain tart craze. It’s all over, at least in Cali. You’ll find it at a lot of those ____berry places that I see popping up on pretty much every street corner. Well, the makers of Carb A Whey, the trendsetters that they are, have decided to also jump on the tart bandwagon and have just come out with new Zotic Tart. Hungry Waif and I were able to get first crack…er, scoop at this flavor. It came in a plain ice cream carton, with no labels or anything. I guess that’s how new it is. I took it out of the freezer to let it thaw for a while; sticking with the Carb a Whey guidelines I work with. But the Zotic tart didn’t really need to sit out at all really. It has the texture of Italian ice, though if I had let it sit out longer than mixed it up it may have taken on a more ice cream consistency. But I really liked eating it like an Italian ice. It tastes a little citrusy and has a slight tartness to it, though it doesn’t make your mouth pucker like some of the other tarts I’ve tried. It’s really nice and refreshing and perfect if you’re not in the mood for chocolate or caramel. Yesterday, when it was a zillion degrees out it was a perfect substitute for sucking on ice, which can get a little boring (and freezer burn on your cheek sort of sucks.) The spots that had melted turn fluffy and taste a little off, but this could probably be remedied by mixing. Nutritionally, 4fl.oz. is 23 calories, 0g of fat, and 1g of protein. It’s a little higher in sugar than Carb a Whey, at 12g. But still a lot lower than other tarts and ice creams alike. It may not be “zotic” but its definitely pretty good. “Zotic”, I just don’t get it…
