Esparrago Zesty Asparagus Guacamole!

I’m not originally from California, I’ve only really recently started living here. Why does that matter you ask? Well, this means I haven’t really grown up with the option of avocado in EVERYTHING I eat. Actually, I’d never eaten an avocado until I moved to California. Off the bat I wasn’t a fan. So, then I went to guacamole and tried that. That wasn’t so bad. I think it was the texture that always threw me off. Also, as you may or may not know avocados are notoriously high in fat and calories. Even though these are good fats they make up most of guacamole, which is really just a glorified condiment. So anywho, I was shopping yesterday, as a person does when they want food, and came across Esparrago asparagus guacamole. Nutritionally, not bad at all. 2 tbsp has only 10 calories, 0g of fat, 95mg of sodium, but only 1g each of fiber and protein. There are assorted vitamins found in the “guacamole” also. Keep in mind that regular guacamole has about 60 calories and 4.5g of fat for 2 tbsp and normal guacamole calls for about 2 whole avocadoes. That’s a lot of tablespoons. The ingredients list had only vegetables, spices, lime juice and a starch to thicken it up. Ok… taste. Wow, this stuff is good! I got the zesty kind and it has a little kick to it. It’s spiced really nicely and you can taste everything from the garlic to the jalapenos. Does it taste like guacamole? Weirdly enough I can’t tell. I want to say yes but, again, maybe it’s the texture that’s throwing me off. It’s a little thinner than guacamole and has a chunkier consistency closer in relation to salsa. I think a great way to use this if your really jonesing for a guacamole fix, texture and all, is to mush up some avocado and use Esparrago as a base. That way you get the taste without a lot of added calories and fat.
