Fiber One Chewy Bars!
January 26th, 2007 by hungry waif
Fiber One (the general mills version of All bran extra fiber) is widely loved (by me and especially hungry girl that cant stop raving about it, not that i mind but she should give all bran a try as well, no?). Well they've branched out, just like All Bran, and now make these chocolate chewy bars. I am sorry that i could't post a proper picture but these bars are brand new and not even available online yet. i got mine from a local major supermarket so keep your eyes peeled in the bars and cereal type things section. To review the nutritionals for these babies: 1 bar has 140 calories, 4 grams of fat, and a very impressive 9g of fiber! You might think 140 is a lot as there are those 90 calorie quaker ones floating around, but these fiber one's are MUCH bigger! there are the size a bar SHOULD be (i find all those pria bars to be teeny). taste? well they honestly taste like the chocolate Quaker chewy granola bars, only way bigger and more satisfying, and i think this also has more chocolate than the Quaker ones. I cant realy taste anything like the fiber one cereal itself, but it provides the fiber, so i am happy.

Did they fill you up? They sound delicious!
Where did you find these bars? I haven't seen them anywhere. By the way, I LOVE your blog!
You don't read hungry girl, do you? Last week she said people like the bars but she hadn't been able to find them. She never raved about them. she has, however, raved about the All Bran ones. They are often on her list of fiber finds.
I recently found the Fiber One bars in my local grocery store, and I think they taste great. I was trying to figure out whether they contain soluble or insoluble fiber though. I think it is mainly soluble (from the chicory root extract, which is also called inulin). I wish they'd specify on the package, since they serve different purposes.
I agree! All Bran is SOOOOOOOO much better than Fiber One!
Really? I've seen these bars everywhere: target, albertson's, bashas, etc. They are ~2.70 for a box of 5 at Target, which is the cheapest non-sale price I've seen so far. O, and I agree, they are delish :D
These bars aren't really that new, and they have 130 calories each, 120 for the raisin flavor, not that that's a big difference, but I'm obsessive.
The chocolate and peanut
The chocolate and peanut butter flavors are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good!! Caramel is alright, but a little too buttery for my taste.

I love these bars! I think
I love these bars! I think the pb is prob my favorite but carmel is a close second! I like the chocolate ones too, but not as well as the others! :)

oops, i'm wrong i was talking bout the all bran version, sorry!!!
janice- she said that hungry-girl raves about fiber one cereal, not the bars (which is true)
I just bought the oats & chocolate chewy bars this weekend for the first time. They are awesome! I was curious about the first ingredient being Chicory Root Extract. Does anyone know what that is exactly?
I just tried the Fiber One Oats & Chocolate bar. Oh my....good stuff.
my wife and i have tried these things.we both cannot believe how bloated and gassy they leave us.i myself cannot stop going to the bathroom for a couple days after eating them.i understand the fiber factor, butt this is to much!then i read the ingediants,ETHANOL,SHELLAC.google these two things.hope vegans are not eating them.
The Fiber One Bars are indeed DELISH, but high in sugar. Anyways, they are very filling, fiber-full and I love the taste. I reviewed 'em too.www.meltingmama.typepad.com
Fiber ONE bars are by far much better then All Bran and I am an All Bran fan. I still buy them but only if I can't find the Fiber One
Does General Mills actually think people don't look at ingredients?HELLO G.M. > ETHANOL ? SHELLAC ?WHY ??? DO YO ADD CARNUBA ALSO TO MAKE THEM CHEWY ??? These items will not make the adult daycare scene, or kid snacks for flavor.RE-THINK GENERAL MILLS. PEOPLE DONT WANT ETHANOL & SHELLAC IN FOOD PRODUCTS.
Well, appy97, if you don't want shellac in your foods, I hope you're only purchasing organic fruits and vegetables because those nice shiny apples you get in the normal produce section of your grocery store...you guessed it...are coated in shellac. If you don't like that the bars contain ethanol, I certainly hope you don't drink alcohol...because that is exactly what's in beer, wine and liquor (ETOH = ethanol). Plus, plain old vinnegar is derived from ethanol. Food-based ethanol is derived from corn. I certainly can respect your desire to stay away from these ingredients, but I do hope you realize that they are much more common and somewhat less harmful than you might think...Hannah
The Are Awesome!!!
These bars are so awesome. I eat one every night before I go to bed as my "dessert". I buy them at my local Super Walmart... They are chewy and chocolately... yummmm.
