Food for Life Cinnamon Raisin Bread

A couple months back, I had the most awesome job of being a private chef.  I worked for a family with some wheat allergies so I had to get creative with the meals and especially the lunches and snacks I had to make for their kid. I also did their shopping and noticed they could eat bread from the "Food for Life" line that features breads, tortillas, pitas, and even english muffins with ezekiel.  I tried a bunch of their products (those reviews to come in the near future!) and decided to review their cinnamon raisin bread. Its made with 100% sprouted grain and is flourless. Each slice has 80 calories, 0.5 g of fat, 18g carbs, 2g fiber, 5g sugar, and 3g protein.  Very nice for pretty filling slice of bread. Its not a voluminous slice but I assure you, its quite dense. Plus, look at most other cinnamon breads out there and they are chock full of sugar, additives, preservatives, and chemicals I wouldn't dare pronounce! I love seeing that the back of this product is full of stuff I can actually identify like sprouted wheat, organic raisins, organic millet, barley, lentils, and soybeans, just to name a few. Ok so nutrition and good stuff aside, let talk about the most important thing, does this taste like cardboard? Well I actually really love this bread! And mind you, I DONT like most things that are "cinnamon raisin-y". Like bagels, ick! I cant stand cinnamon raising bagels! I rather have an onion bagel or a doughnut! But this bread is nice and dense and has a lovely, texture and subtle taste of cinnamon that isn't too over-powering. Paired in perfect harmony with the sweetness of the raisins, this slice with some warm butter can serve as dessert!  I don't think I would have it as my standard sandwich bread with meats, but maybe with almond or peanut butter. It perfectly fine plain too!. I know a dietitian who told me she sprinkles cheese and warms it up so it melts. Not sure I would be a fan of that since I'm really no cheese fan, but I'm sure there are other creative things you can pair with this bread. The warning I'd give if you are planning on purchasing it is to keep it in the fridge or freezer. Since there are no preservatives, this can grow mold very quickly at room temp. Since the economy became in dire need of some prozac, its been hard to find private chef jobs so this gig was elusive, but hopefully, the economy will cheer up soon!
