nutritious junk

When I was growing up getting together with family meant not only fun and good times (and a little anxiety) but also an abundance of food.  We always had old time favorites like schneken, blintzes, and homemade hallah; to the newer creations of carrot ring, and sweet potato latkes.  My grandmother’s specialty was kugel.  It’s pretty much a casserole of sorts that’s made with noodles, potatoes, or pretty much anything.  The way American hamburger stands have the garbage burger, Jews have kugel.  It can be made sweet or savory, and can even be made kosher for Passover using matzah.
