Aidell's Mini Chicken Apple Sausages!

I know, i haven't actually done a review in a while, but culinary school is very grueling and keeps me supe busy. anyhow, really close to my culinary school is a Gelsons market where i often grab a quick bite before class starts (they have THE BEST ready-made take out food!

Oscar Mayer Smoked Ham!

i went to a jewish day school (but my family was not even close to religious), and being that my parents in no way kept kosher, i saw no problem in bringing left over stir fried shrimp or ham sandwiches to day school.  I realized i might get told on to the authorities by little tatle-telling peers, so i just said my ham sanwiches were turkey (hey, its covered in bread, i didn't think they'd do lunch box inspections).  Actually, i really enjoy ham, and its a bit underrated in the nutrition world cause its usually very lean and a good source or protien.  Oscar Mayer's Shaved Smoked slices are

Boar's Head Skinless Premium Turkey Slices!

My dad's girlfriend's daughter started school last week, and then i noticed more buses clogging up traffic when it hit me, kiddies are back in school.  Most colleges (and my culinary school) dont start til late September/early October, but i though for this week I'd feature "brown-bag" friendly products and ideas.

Wellshire Farms Peppered Turkey Bacon

I know the picture isnt Wellshire Farms' peppered turkey bacon, but its the only photo that wasnt super teeny that i could find. Turkey bacon is probablt more popular than real bacon these days because of people's health concerns, kosher keeping, or if your like me and just dont really crave greasy meat all that much. I usually buy the Jenni-O turkey bacon (as you can tell by my recently posted grocery list) but i saw this peppered one at whole foods and thought it would be a nice change. Each big thick slice is a mere 20 calories with no sugars and 3 g of protien.
