Since the low-carb craze came in vogue, cereal companies have been churning out hundreds of verisons of low carb cereals. I mean I can point out at least seven boxes in the cereal aisle with a some mention of it being a low or lower carb cereal. But a lot of them are actually very pricey and one can wonder if its worth sacificing those carbs for flavor? Because generally, most non-sugary cereals are really not that bad for you to begin with and already taste great (like Cheerios, Chex, Corn Flakes, Rice Krispies, etc...). But, indeed many dieters are in fear of....gasp.....CARBS. I personally dont reject carbs atkins devotees, I am more in a believe in the RIGHT carbs (aka, complex carbs) which have fiber. But I still wanted to give these low carb cereals a shot. Hi Lo boasts, "more than just a great tasting cereal...it's a smart choice for supporting your body's ability to maintain healthy blood sugar levels and cardiovascular health" . Ok so it's healthy, but what about the most important thing, the taste! Well they describe their cereal as "Great tasting, lightly crunchy flakes & grahams with pecan pieces". So i poured myself a bowl and gave it try and the verdict: they're right! It is great tasting with a very prominent maple taste. the pecan pieces are indeed there, but dont expect much, i found about six pieces in my bowl. It doesn't taste like a diet cereal but i suggest sealing it very well once you open it. after a couple of days, it got a little stale, and didnt taste as wonderful. Generally, this ones a hit, just treat it like fruit and eat it fresh!
