Kashi's Honey Toasted Heart to Heart

I think cereal is a great thing. I don’t do frozen dinners when I’m in a time crunch. No, when I’m in a time crunch, five minutes on high is an extra five minutes I would rather use eating and enjoying my food as opposed to getting it down as fast as possible. Plus, most frozen entrees are reminiscent of airplane food (although this concept is becoming extinct, most airlines don feel their passengers due to budget cuts). So this is where cereal comes in. Its satisfying, easy, cheap, balanced (when paired with milk or yogurt), and most importantly, delicious (well, depending on the cereal…). So today I give you a review of one of Kashi’s most popular cereals.  Kashi’s honey toasted Heart to Heart is a combo of honey toasted “O’s” and “hearts” made with Kashi’s standard seven whole grain staple. Each ¾ cup serving is 110 calories, 1.5g fat, 25g carbs, 5 g fiber, 4 g protein, and only 5 g of sugar.  I had a feeling this is Kashi’s healthy attempt to mimic General Mill’s Honey nut cheerios.  But oddly enough, they didn’t taste like honey nut cheerios at all. First of all, these heart and O’s are about three times the size of an individual cheerios. They are significantly crunchier and denser and hence probably why they are more satiating. They are sweet but not overly so like most frosted cereals. It was a nice surprise to see that they only had 5 g of sugar.  I did enjoy this cereal but being the cereal whore I am, there are just soooo many cereals I love just a tad more than this one. But if all my favorites are out, I’ll definitely pick this one up again.
