Late July Cheddar Cheese Sandwich Crackers!

The idea of organically grown fruits and vegetables always seemed like a great idea to me, hell, it is a great idea. A person who buys organic just can’t be scared of bumps, bruises or little bug bite marks on their produce. Now organic crackers, okay I’ll give it a try, see what they’re going for. And that’s exactly what I did with the pack of cheddar cheese crackers from Late July. It boasts that this product was produced without synthetic pesticide (don’t really understand what pesticide would be used for on crackers), no trans fats or corn syrup (cool) and no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives (triple cool). I opened the package and the four pack of crackers instantly reminded me of these packs of crackers my grandpa eats. I’m sure the ones he eats are full of pesticides, ummm maybe not, or at least a lot of artificial flavors and colors. Really, for the Late July version just think of two Ritz crackers with cheese sandwiched in between. These things are good, I’ll give them that, but it might have something to do with reminding me of my childhood. I tried to put those thoughts aside and focus solely on the sandwich crackers in front of me. The cracker part is definitely buttery without being overwhelming. The cheese tastes a lot like cheese wiz but with a nice hefty amount of salt. “We have no artificially flavors so we’ll kill you with our salt overload. Forgive us, we just want it to taste more like something, anything” Sorry, that’s my idea of what these guys are saying about their over salted product. 16% of your daily value to be exact. And that’s for 4 crackers, which is like, what, one snack through your whole day. The package has 140 calories, 7g of fat, 2g of protein. Oh, and they don’t have trans fat, but they do have fat fat, saturated fat, monounsaturated fat, polyunsaturated, and cholesterol (just thought I’d throw that in for good measure) Everything inside my body screams that I should step away from the bad crackers in the good cracker mask. But, I have to admit, I really like them. They’re yummy, and buttery and cheese wizzy and salty. But will I ever buy them again….probably not.
