I hate that my dad's girlfriend is trying to control what my dad consumes because she thinks he needs to loose a few pounds (he may have put on a few, but i think he's totally fine, no where close to fat!). Anyhow, she kinda tries to sneak in diet products where she can (i dont mind that she uses them, but this "sneaky" thing bugs me). So for dinner one night, i offered to cook. I wanted to heat us some of the hibachi chicken and rice and boiled veggies, but she said she wanted something low fat and mexican. Again i offered to sautee up some chicken and bell peppers for fajitas, but she wanted something fresh and without fat (even though i would have used olive oil which is good fat). Anyhow, i gave in to the compromise, told her i'd bake the chicken (hey, at least she was letting me cook). She said she bought some tortillas when i noticed they were Mission's Carb Balance. I've been a devotee to the La Tortilla Factory tortillas for their great taste and excellent nutritional rep, but i gave these a try anyhow. Each tortilla is 110 calories, 2.5g fat, 11g fiber (whoa!) (and if your a carb counter, i guess this means each tortilla is 7 g of "net carbs", so the package boasts), and 5 g of protein. Pretty good, i have to hand it to them...but i guess its most important that they taste good too. Well, they do taste a lot like traditional flour tortillas, pretty ok, but a little "lack luster", like maybe they need a little more flavor to them. It would be nice to spruce these up with some garlic or seasonings. I dont know if i'd use this for wraps (like i do with the la tortilla ones), but these are great for mexican dishes.
