Morningstar Veggie Links!
May 18th, 2007 by hungry waif

After the tiny sausage patty fiasco, i am suprised i picked up another Morningstar product. So these are from their breakfast specialties with two links weighing in at 80 calories, 3 grams of fat, 2 grams of fiber, and 9 grams of protein. Nutritionally, yes, pretty good, and worlds better than real pork sausage links (and these are of course vegetarian friendly although they contain egg white so i guess this aint for vegans). Unlike the patties, these look nothing like they do on the picture, they look scary. they were gray, like pork sauage that expired may 18 2003! They tasted kinda ok, but the odd texture through me off and hence i dont think i am going to recommend this. It reminded me of airplane food, and it looked like it too. Granted it is healthier, if its links you want, try the Boca Links which are better share similar nutritional stats. I think i am going to take a hiatus from mornigstar farms (yea, right, like this gray sausage really came from a farm).
Ummm the soybeans it's made
Ummm the soybeans it's made from probably *did* come from a farm...
Bangers and Mash
So would those be a resonable vegitarian alternative for the "bangers" to go with my mash and peas?
Also, could i use the liquid form of these as a biofuel?
Although you don't seem to
Although you don't seem to care very much about eating organic food, I don't buy anything made by Kellogg or its subsidiary companies, such as Morningstar Farms
http://www.organicconsumers.org/ge/kellog121505.cfm%20
"Kellogg has announced that it will limit the trans-fatty acids in some of its popular snack foods, replacing the trans fats with a soybean oil genetically modified to be more heart-healthy. Kellogg will start using a soybean oil called Vistive, introduced last year and made by Monsanto of St. Louis. Vistive is low in linolenic acid and reduces the need for partial hydrogenation, a chemical process that gives food longer shelf lives, yet produces trans fat."
And I don't want to support anything Monsanto creates with my earned dollars.
