I’ve always been pretty boring when it comes to my choices in chips and crackers. I stick to the basics like original or nacho and cringe at the sight of chili cheese or tangy lime. That’s why I was a little more than surprised at my hand as it reached for a flavor of Mr. Krispers I would have never thought of trying on my own. The makers of Mr. Krispers, the cute little winking, bowtie clad guy on the front of the bag, were nice enough to send me an assortment of flavors. Instead of reaching for the “safe” nacho or barbeque my hand went for the sun dried tomato and basil. After munching on a few I had to turn to my hand and say thank you. She replied with a nod and a smile and I continued my attempt to reach the bottom of the bag. The chips are a perfect combo of tomato and basil as well as having flavors of garlic and onion. The chips are football shaped and nice and thin and crispy. Really they have the perfect amount of crunch. The texture reminds me a lot of rice crisps I would get in Asian markets when I was growing up. On some of the chips the basil is more prominent than other chips. I’m okay with that since I looove basil. These chips are made rice and corn so they’re gluten free. The rice is brown, which according to the literature on the back of the bag adds extra Krispyness…. they get cute points for using a K…excuse me kute points. They are also natural through and through, from the first ingredient of brown rice to the last being yeast. 37 chips (and these are not tiny) for only 120 calories and 3g of fat meant I could keep eating these like a mad woman and not inhale my daily calories in one 4.2 oz bag. Additionally they have 1g of fiber, 2g of protein. Wanting to share my fondness for these I made my man try them, he wasn’t as big of a fan as I was. I guess these chips are a little more specialized to a person’s taste buds. I really wanted to find something wrong with these things because they seemed too good to be true. But really, if you want to have a better relationship with your mouth and your hand, like I do now, you should give these a try; and if you don’t like em, give em to me.
