Pea and Mint Soup Recipe!

I know it has been a while since any review or post. Intense yoga teacher training, the holidays, work, and my attempt at writing my first book can make you forget you've created such a brilliant website. Luckily, I have some down time since I'm freezing my ass off visiting my grandmother in Belgium. I thought in the spirit of my rare encounter with snow, I'd warm my loyal readers with one of my favorite soup recipes. I did about four weeks of just soups alone during my culinary school days. but never once did they do this peas soup. My sister takes credit for my love affair with pea soup.

Emerald Cocoa Roasted Almonds!

I apologize once again for the spotty reviews, Yoga Instructor training is grueling! But the other day during our ""lunch break" (which is a skimpy 15 min to gather food from local joints and scarf it down), I got a snack at the Rite Aid downstairs from the Yoga studio.  I was tempted to get my usual go-to pick me up, TWIX!

Restaurant Review: R and D kitchen!

So, sometimes, I get a little bored with product reviews and excited when I try a new restaurant (which is sadly not as often as I would like, thanks recession!).  Since it was the anniversary of my birth last tuesday, my lovely friends bought me lunch at a restuarant called "R+D Kitchen" located on the trendy Montana Ave in Santa Monica, CA. The joint is actaully owned by the folks that own Houston's. Actually, the "R" and "D" stands for research and development actually for the company's other restaurants.

Trader Joe's Roasted Plantian Chips!

You know there are a few things that put me in a better mood. Kind like the song from "The Sound of Music", I have a few "favorite things" which don't make me feel so sad.  Personally, whiskers on kittens send chills up my spine and snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes piss the hell out of me (hey, I'm from L.A. where its 75 and breezy all year round). Brown paper packages tied up with strings make my suspicious of a uni-bomber or anthrax.

Recipe: Chana Masala!

Remember when I dragged you readers in to my culinary school adventures when I went about a year ago. Now, I'm dragging you into yoga teacher training land. We have to memorize all the names of the poses in SANSKRIT!!! its VERY confusing! Did you know downward dog is actually called Adhi Mukah Savasana! In sprit of my yoga insanity I decided to post one of my favorite indian dishes! Chana Masala! Packed with protein and fiber, its amazing this is actually good for you!

Mini Chill Relaxation

I dont get wired and jittery all that often. But when I do, boy do I freak out. Take for example the other day. I saw a bruise on my toe (probably from my yoga teacher training classes or my elliptical session) and went on WebMD to diagnose it as skin cancer. My roommate came home to me whining endlessly how I read that someone lost their toe because they had skin cancer on it and that I can't have that happen to me ESPECIALLY trying to teach others yoga. See what I mean, i was like this little ball of nervous, unnecessary anxious energy.  Enter this weeks review, Mini Chill.

Food for Life Cinnamon Raisin Bread

A couple months back, I had the most awesome job of being a private chef.  I worked for a family with some wheat allergies so I had to get creative with the meals and especially the lunches and snacks I had to make for their kid. I also did their shopping and noticed they could eat bread from the "Food for Life" line that features breads, tortillas, pitas, and even english muffins with ezekiel.  I tried a bunch of their products (those reviews to come in the near future!) and decided to review their cinnamon raisin bread. Its made with 100% sprouted grain and is flourless.
