nutritious junk

Oxygen Magazine!
February 16th, 2008 by hungry waif
Hope everyone had a romantic or at least not depressing Valentines Day (for us single guys and gals at least). I am just finishing up my baking finals in culinary school (i think i did pretty horribly mind you but i still dont know my grade yet) so again shopping has been postponed so i continue to bring you the magazine reviews. Oxygen is a monthly women's fitness magazine you may have spotted. I think its actually based out of Canada, but i see it on newstands and bookstores all over here in the states. They focus on trianing, health, nutrition, and fat loss. Its not very long, but there are less ads than your standard magazine. Many of the features are not lenghty and its really a lot of pictures, great if your feel like the gym is some sort of mystery puzzle. This is definetly more geared towards fitness fans because there's a lot of info on strength training techniques and plans. I take this with me to the gym so i dont look like a doofus trying to use those weight machines. I also dont have moola for a trainer, so having some sort of guide line is nice. I must say though, the nutrition articles are ok, but they seem to always push the same philosophy, which is fine, but they ultimately want to buy this book called "Clean Eating". It feels like every nutrition article starts of with some good info, and then proceeds to say, "and for more, buy Clean Eating". Some recipes are really cool though, like their no-bake peanut butter protien cookies, but dont think they are good recipes if your not active because although healthy, they are geared towards very active people so they are rather calorically dense. I buy this in the winter or summer, when i have more time to go to the gym. ITs not like i curl up on the couch with this. Beleive me, with the boat loads of picture of six packs, sitting and reading this makes me feel sorta strange.
I've always been intimidated
I've always been intimidated about the cover of this magazine.

I agree, the mag is always pushing the Clean Eating book! And the last few pages always feature the female bodybuilders, which definitely weird me out!

Hehehe, very true, very
Hehehe, very true, very true. Though I doubt I would mind being in a bikini at ALL if I looked like that. Just not on a magazine where people can stare at me.
