I’m pretty big on snacks. Sweet, salty, chewy or crunchy; I’ll eat em all. I know in the perfect word I should just be snacking on fruits and veggies, but that can gets a little boring, no matter how hard I’ve tried to spruce the up. Chips are always good, fun snacks. But show me someone who eats the recommended serving and I’ll show you…something. Most chip servings are between 8-12 chips. Call me crazy but that really wouldn’t satisfy me. Satisfying, not in terms of filling up my stomach, but satisfying in the sense of “oh that was good, now what else is there in the house to eat?” I tried out Popchips, partly because of their high serving size and partly because another reviewer, who will remain nameless, kept talking about them in her reviews, over and over and over again. These chips are relatively new and are popped instead of being baked or fried. I got the original potato chips. In the past I really haven’t ever liked plain potato chips. I find them boring, over flavored with salt, and I guess I just don’t like them. So these Popchips were gonna have to do a lot to impress little old me. They look a lot like mini rice cakes, but thinner. And they even look like they were popped in smaller batches because each one has a varying gradient of brown toasting marks. Looking at them you’d think they’d be light and have the texture of a rice cake, but they’re more crunchy like classic potato chips but without the oily texture. The taste is pretty damn good. So good in fact that I opened the bag the day before doing this review and only have crumbs left. The chips are really salted pretty perfectly, letting the salt do its job to magnify the flavors instead of masking them. They’re all natural and have 120 calories for each serving, which is a very respectable 22 chips, and 4.5g of fat. What really confuses me is how they seem really flavorful but the only things in the ingredients list are potato, sunflower oil, rice flour, and salt. Believe me it’s a good confusion and these are good chips.
