Sara Lee Soft and Smooth Bread!

Sometimes I’m jealous of little kids because their abundance of toys to play with. Especially on a rainy day when there’s nothing to do and all mindless entertainment fallbacks have gotten old. Where’s your easy bake oven and bedazzeler when you need them? This is the problem my sister and I ran into while we were visiting my parents in Michigan. So she sat with me as I started writing one of my reviews. The day before I had walked aimlessly around the mall with my parents and as we were walking we came across a group of people giving something away. Who doesn’t like free stuff? So I walked over and what were they giving away….bread. At…the…mall? That should have been the first sign. It was the relatively new Sara Lee Soft and Smooth whole wheat bread. I brought a pack home with me, and a day later my sister and I found ourselves in the need for mental stimulation. So, out came the bread. I took a bite and tasted absolutely nothing. I actually had to work very hard to detect any flavor at all. But playing “find the flavor” was not the last of the entertainment this bread gave us. We also found out about the bread amazing ability to bounce back to its shape even after it had been smooshed down. This probably had a lot to do with the crazy use of conditioners, preserves and whatever else they did to make whole wheat bread look like white bread. My mom even thought of the idea of using the rest of the loaf to keep glasses and plates safe during a move. My sister whipped out the cookie cutters and used the slices of bread as a base for creating stars, leaves and more. We had quite a good time with this as it made our boring, lazy day go by a lot faster. The nutritionals of our new play toy? 70 calories per slice, 1g of fat, 135gmg of sodium, 2g of fiber and 3g of protein. Now, not all is lost with Sara Lee. I love their Delightful wheat bread. It has only 45 cals per slice, no fat and the same amount of protein and fiber as the Soft and Smooth version. It also has taste, and a real bread texture. This stuff is definitely not the best thing since sliced bread.
