Tastykake Sensables Chocolate Chocoate Chip Cake!

Al's picture

While in Boston I paroosed the grocery stores in the same way I would paroose a clothing store.  I didn’t actually need anything but damn if I wasn’t going to try to find something new and different, at least to me.  I came across many items that went all over the country and I could have no problem finding at home.  Then I saw the stuff of my parent’s childhood, Tastykake.  I really hope someone knows about Tastykake because it always seems to be a big thing when my family goes to Boston or Philly, which is the hometown of both of them.  Tastykake are like those Little Debbie treats…but better!  They’ve got the grumbly and annoyed NYC, Philly, and Boston F*** U in them.  Tastykake started in Philadelphia and has apparently grown into neighboring states.  Ok, but enough with history and weird descriptions of how Tastykake is hardcore.  They have a relatively new line that has come out called Sensables  I grabbed a box of the chocolate chocolate chip cake.  They’re individually wrapped and almost twice the size of those weight watchers cakes.  Which I tried also and could eat in about a bite and half, and I don’t have a huge mouth or anything.  Each cake is 100 calories, 8g of fat, 4g of fiber and 3g of protein.  They’re good.  Chocolatey without being sickeningly sweet and with more of brownie texture.  I didn’t find one chocolate chip in my cake, which was kind of odd.  Unless they were just kidding about the whole chocolate chip thing, in which case I don’t find it very funny.  I just don’t really find it worth it.  It’s good size wise for a snack or dessert but the taste doesn’t justify 8g of fat to me. That’s a lot of fat stuck in a very small fat receptacle.  If you have a big problem with portion control these might be good for you.  Especially since they’re hard as hell for you to open and you’ll probably give up on eating a second one before you get it out of the package.  If you do come across the regular tastykakes you should really pick one or two up, they’re not terrible in the grand scheme of things in the health department, but they are really, really good.  If you want you can ask my parents…and their friends….and my sister….and her friends….and my grandparents…and my aunt….my uncle….my friends…the mayor of Philadelphia…his friends…

Thanks. I wrote this really, really early in the morning, and for the life of me couldn't figure out the spelling. Sorry if it was a little confusing to read, again I wrote it early in the morning before I was fully awake.

That's funny that you went

That's funny that you went after Tastykakes, my sister and bestfriend were both just in town recently and HAD to get a couple boxes of tastykake butterscotch krimpets to take back to their boyfriends.

Yeah the choc. covered

Yeah the choc. covered peanut butter cakes are the best!

please just spell check its

please just spell check
its not that hard

Meh, I find it easy to use

Meh, I find it easy to use phonics, it allows me to understand and not be too picky at the same time. 8g of fat is quite a bit for a "sensible" dessert.

Low Carb

Thanks for the review! I've been losing weight doing low carb, so this is a good option for me as this product only has 2 net carbs & only 100 calories.
