Top Ten New Years resolutions for food companies

hungry waif's picture

Jan 1st is creeping up (scarry the way time flies, eh?) and that means people are going to be making resolutions bound to never be made (usually...). so i thought id give major food companies some suggestions, and if they are reading this they should know that i'd love to get some FREE products to review...

1) Dont Boast "Whole Grain": this especially goes to cereal companies, lucky charms might be made with whole grain, but it still lacks fiber! Thats the "whole" point of "whole grain"! Your simply trying to make sugary cereals sound healthy but they still are sugar bombs you call breakfast! Bulk up the fiber more and than we'll talk...

2) Engough with highly caffinated sodas: not classics like coke and mountain dew, i am talkin red bull, full throttle, rockstar, monstar, etc...it seems i see a new one each week. BIG DEAL! they are just over priced, highly caffinate and infused with chemicals i can pronounce. Plus, most ive tasted are pretty gross

3) Make more Gluten-free food: Celiac is so common yet many people dont even know they have it. lets make it easier for those with celiac to enjoy the much missed breads, cereal, sauces, etc

3) Stop lying to us: a few companies had lawsuits this year for giving the wrong nutrtional info for their products (like Trader Joes and Nana's). Do you reallu want to loose consumer trust?

4) Give realistic serving sizes: this goes esp for ice cream which most labels use 1/2 cup serving which is VERY unrealistic. come on! your just tricking us into thinking that your product isnt so bad when we polish off a pint. If your that scared for labeling 3000 cals in a tub of dreyers, made thats a hint that you should limit the fat and sugar!

5) Make Frozen meals bigger: most i've tried are teeny! they dont fill u up so you end up eat more "extras"

6) bring back healthy discontinued products: like Heinz's One Carb! there are a few others that were really great but now theve vanished from the shelves!

7) Make healthier items cheaper: notice how the lower the calories the more expensive items are (like Waldens, produce, etc)...i mean i know why America has an obesity problem, they cant afford to eat healthier!

8) Get rid of Trans Fat period: that way you wont even need "trans fat free", itll just be a given

9) Stop the aspartame (and swich to something with less of an after taste, like splenda!)

10) Give the hungry-waif products to review (sorry just had to add that it)

You said it, sister!

I hate the whole grains thing, it's all a horrible attempt to look healthy. Gr!

i totally agree with the

i totally agree with the realistic serving size comment.
Especially with muffins. I HAte it when you're absolutely mesmerized by a low calorie count, and then you realize that the company expects you to cut your muffin in half in order to save the other half for later. -.-; Like, who does that? Why not just bake smaller muffins?
