Total Cranberry Crunch!
November 4th, 2007 by hungry waif
Total is the General Mills version of special K, sorta. special K likes to boast how it helps you loose weight (i dont understand this premise, it has the same amount of calories as cheerios, and cheerios has even more fiber!). Anyhow, Cranberry crunch actually came out last year but i guess got a pr boost recently and was on sale (maybe since the thanksgiving/holiday season is rolling around and they want to have the cranberry be a festive cereal touch). Before i delve into the taste, let me present you with this cereal's nutritonals: a 1 cup serving is 180 calories, 1g fat, 15g sugar, 4 g fiber, and 4 g protein. Plus, it has all those vitamins and minerals all Total cereals boast. I think this is geared to be healthy and if so, the nutritionals are rather disappointing since they do have HFCS's, but not as bad as frosted anything. It had a few winning points: cranberries were plentiful and its a big pet peeve of mine when you they get skimpy on the supposed add ons (like the Chocolatey Delight Special K cereal that must have had like three pieces, in the whole box!). This cereal also contails the classic Total flakes which are so-so (not so light and crispy) and the oat pieces are teen and really dont help this cereal on the crunchiness factor. The cranberries themselves were chewy and sweet, better than raisins, but i still dont care for them much. Overall its not bad, if you like dried cranberries, you might really enjoy this, and it is fairly filling. but i prefer other flakes and dont like dried fruit in my cereal. with all these seasonal infusions of food like cranberries, i am just waiting to see if they come out with pumkin or pomegrante cereal.

I believe they are ahead of you on the pumpkin idea, at least as far as granola goes. Pomegranite, that's a scary thought; I'm with you though, no dried fruit in my cereal, please!

I always add fresh fruit to my cereal cause i dont drink milk. i like added fresh berries and sometimes even mashed pumpkin or unsweetened applesauce.

Mashed pumpkin and applesauce to dry cereal? I drink it with soy milk, which I prefer the taste of (not the vanilla or chocolate, just the original), and that makes it rather tasty for me.
