Trader Joe's Chocolate Chip Cookies!
July 25th, 2007 by Al
Remember the days of Sesame Street and the big blue guy always chomping
away at cookies? Well, because of Americans proneness to obesity and
the hope of catching them young, Cookie Monster has changed his diet to
healthier fruit and veggies. Who am I to poopoo this newer development
of trying to instill healthier eating habits into the minds of youths?
But seriously…Cookie Monster? Leave it to Americans to try and let a
blue fur carpet with eyes and a hand up his bum show children the way
to a healthy lifestyle. If only they had looked a little further into
the issue, they would have found Trader Joe’s Crispy Crunchy Chocolate
Chip Cookies. These little bit-sized cookies are great for snacking and
can help with a cookie craving. I was able to pronounce all the
ingredients and didn’t fear for my life as I read them. The nutrition
isn’t that bad either. Keep in mind it is a cookie, not a healthy,
nutrition-full bar masquerading as a cookie, but an actual cookie. For
12 cookies it’s 150 calories, 9g of fat, 1g of fiber, and 2g of
protein. What I really enjoyed about these cookies, besides their
taste, was the fact that you could just grab a couple and be done with
it, unlike when you have a full sized cookie and no matter how many
times you tell yourself you’re gonna save ½ for tomorrow you end up
with only crumbs left on you shirt. These cookies remind me a lot of
the cookies I used to get a McDonalds on my rare trips there. The
Trader Joe’s cookies are crunchy with a nice chocolate undertone and a
tiny hint of coconut. These would be perfect to make into your own 100
calorie packs, just make sure you account for the 1 or 2 you pop in
your mouth as your separating them. Trader Joe’s cookies are great for
a treat when your feeling fruit and veggied out. And if you feel the
need to bash cookie consumption, keep poor Cookie Monster out of it.
Its not easy being blue…
I don't get "now with new Al
I don't get "now with new Al review flavor" Does this mean Al is reviewing it, not HW?
sorry
Sorry yeah, I clarified it.
Al wow, did you know i used
Al wow, did you know i used to eat those for breakfast when i was like seven cause my parents wouldn't by my sugary cereals!? yea, my sister called me the cookie monster. I was a tiny skinny kid (kiddies always have superfast metabolisms) but now i am not that suprised i was little, these weren't so terrible for me after all. I would hide them behind the couch watching saturaday morning cartoons because that way my parents couldn't see, they caught on when they would chocolate stains though...
I was talking to a fellow
I was talking to a fellow boomer just the other day about the little Trader Joe CCC. Her plan for eating small was to put the 12 little cookies in a zip lock back and for her afternoon snack slowy much on the cookies knowing she was consuming just 150 calories. My problem, I want to eat the whole tub. They are delicious.
Yay for Al as a reviewer
Al, your reviewing style is hilarious and entertaining. love it. Glad that you are joining HungryWaif!
Trader Joe's always has great finds - have you ever had the Cat Cookies? I never have, but I hear good things...especially in terms of them not being too nutritionally damaging. If you're familiar, I'd love to read a review on them!
yes, i love the chocolate
yes, i love the chocolate cat cookies! i will do a review of them soon....I used to keep them in my dorm a few years ago (when i was living in the pathetic college dorms...ekk bad memories!)
incorrect calorie info
I think the correct calorie is actually something like 4-5 cookies for 150 calories. There are 12 servings (of 4-5 cookies) per box.
correct calorie info
Double checked just to make sure and the calorie information given in the article is correct. You can go to your local TJ's and check and also Calorie-count has the nutrition info at: http://www.calorie-count.com/calories/item/111688.html. But thanks for looking out for us.

I recently learned that if
I recently learned that if you refrigerate the cookie dough for 24-36 hours, it creates a richer dough, a more caramelized cookie — crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside. I added this step and it’s true! Just remember to leave time for the dough to thaw a bit before baking. Enjoy!
Also if you like your candies like I do then make sure to have something like a Blue Candy.
Tony.
