Trader Joe's Thin Crust Vegetable Pizza

Al's picture

Last night while I was eating dinner I was watched a few episodes of The L Word, which my man refers to as soft-core porn with a story.  One of the things they talked about was the quality triangle.  It’s the idea that on each side of a triangle is the word fast, cheap and good and no matter what you do you can’t have all three.  For a while I agreed with this statement and found it very profound.  Then I remembered what I had, had for dinner and it all kind of flew out the window. Let me explain.  Trader Joe’s or should I say Arabian Joe’s makes a Thin Crust Vegetable Pizza.  It is incredibly thin and has no cheese.  There is just a layer of sauce and tiny chopped vegetables and spices.  Fast?  Well, it can be cooked in the oven (or the toaster oven) in 5 minutes, more if you want it crisper, less if you want it soft.  Cheap?  6 of these mini, and I do mean mini, pizzas are a little less than $4.00.  Considering I used each one as a base for a meal I’m getting 6 meals out of the package.  Good?  Well I think so.  For each one being 92g it’s full of flavor, with just a little bit of spice and actually sort of filling. Maybe not filling, but satisfying.  This is also great for those late nights, or lazy afternoons when you don’t really feel like putting together a pizza, be it on regular crust, pita or whatever.  I keep them in my freezer for whenever I may need them, or have a craving for them.  I really have to say again, for such a simple looking ingredient list this fizza (fake pizza) has got flavor going on.  Each pizza has 180 calories, 3 g of fat, 2g of fiber, 5g of protein.  It’s higher in the sodium department, clocking in at 520mg though.  I usually pair this with some sautéed or steamed veggies and a nice big fruit salad w/ some soy yogurt for dessert.  I should call the people at The L Word and tell them that I solved the mystery of the triangle.

I am SO upset we don't have

I am SO upset we don't have Trader Joe's nearby; it's just not fair. I miss out on a whole load of good stuff, this sounds amazing! It's hard to find a decent no-cheese or soy-cheese 'healthy and fast' pizza.
