Trader Joe's Truffle Brownie Mix
February 13th, 2009 by hungry waif
Since my advanced baking class in culinary school where we had to compare a made from scratch devils food cake and a boxed mix, I’ve snubbed most mixes. Infact, I didn’t even buy the Trader Joe’s truffle brownie mix (as delicious as it sounds). Since traders is just about the most awesomest grocery store, they gave out generous samples of these truffle brownies. . The mix dutch process cocoa powder and chocolate chips, in addition to other all natural ingredients the brownies brownies had a deep chocolate flavor and a fudgy, not chewy, texture so they kind of melted in your mouth. It makes 16 brownies and each brownie has 120 calories, 3 g fat, 22g carbs, and 1 g protein. Of course if your use real eggs and oil, the caloric and fat value might be higher (and it will probably be more delicious). Scratch it best, but when time is short, this will more than cure your brownie withdrawal.
Ingredients
Hey waif, I'm looking to eat a bit more naturally these days, and I was wondering if you could list the ingredients out. I'm totally not into eating cakes cookies, brownies, with partially hydrogenated fats.

Seagoer71, There shouldn't be any partially hydrogenated fats unless you added it yourself.
Hungry waif, I agree that baking from scratch is the best not only do you get a better taste while usually saving some cash ,but I've also found that the box mixes don't exactly save you that much time or more importantly save you any cleanup.
Besides, you miss out on the
Besides, you miss out on the awe people give when you say you made it from scratch!
Oil?
Hi there! How much oil did you guys use? The recipie calls for butter, but I'm trying to be a little healthier even though I'm making brownies haha
u can use canola oil which
u can use canola oil which is healthier than vegtable oil or conventional butter, or I actually like the smart balance although i dont know if thats ideal for baking. You could replace all of it with apple sauce or pumpkin puree, but to be honest, i like the fat element to be in there. maybe reduce the butter/oil by half
