Trader Joe's Vanilla Marshmallows!
June 4th, 2008 by hungry waif
Now that i am back at my culinary school's main campus this term, this leaves me easy access to good old TJ's. As i was stocking up on my eggs (because have you noticed how EXPENSIVE eggs are recently! even at costco! most sell for 3.99 a dozen where at TJ's they sell for only 1.49!), i noticed the lovely new vanilla marshmallows! now, ok, i am not touting this as health food by anymeans, its obviously just sugar and eggwhites and each two have 70 calories, no fat, less than 1g protein, and 19g carbs and sugar. These are nutritionally void, but can i just say how precious these are! they look homemade, like homeone made a big block and cut squares out of them (no Jiffy Puff conventional cylinder looking ones) so you feel like these are somewhat special. The the taste, wow! its like a super dense cloud of vanilla gooeyness! i didn't have time to go try to roast them (yet, i did just buy them less than an hour ago...) but these could be heavenly in cocoa or on a spit over a campfire (or a lighter/budsen burner, whatever fire of choice). And although not healthy, its hard, for me anyways to eat more than like two or three at a time anyhow. marshmallows dont fill your stomach but i dont know its like one of those few sweet treats i can actually put down (unlike chocolate covered pretzels, which to me are deadly). These are a great sugar fix, and a great idea now that camping season is around the corner. Grade A-: Outstadning taste, but yet not an A because lets face it, its still sugar.
Hey man, it's important to

To bad there's no TJs close by, because I would love to make a toasted peanut butter and marshmallow sandwich with these; I bet it would taste great.
