Vertigo Pops!
August 5th, 2007 by hungry waif
Have you every seen the movie Vertigo? Its one of my favorites and a classic. Sorry, that had nothing to do with Vertigo lollipops, its just their name reminded me of how awesome that movie was. Anyhow, i read raving reviews (a lot of "THAT ROCKS!" and "WEEEE"'s) about these pops from hungry girl, but never actually saw these suckers in any store. Lucky for me, i decided to venture into the candy aisle (something i dont do that often) to check out that latest sweets. And then i spotted a box of these. Now the brand that makes em boasts other kooky candies like ring pops, bazooka, pushpops, and that baby bottle candy (which i alway found kinda weird...). Vertigo is their newest addition which is basically a lollipop thats half candy and half chocolate and comes in three yummy sounding flavors (chocolate raspberry, chocolate caramel, and cookies'n cream) . Nutritionally, they stack up as 80 calories per pop, woth 3 g fat and 11 g sugar. And lets get one thing straight, these arent healthy food. these are candy through and through (the first two ingredients are sugar and corn syrup...). BUT....these do cure a sugar/chocolate fix in a long lasting, portion controlled manner, which is why iam featuring it on my site. Ok, but i haven't gotten into the taste part yet....well i tried the chocolate caramel and although it was a little weird sucking on a half chocolate half candy lollipop, after a little while it was sorta cool, and i liked how long it lasted. It was indeed candy, so it was a bit sweet than the better quality chocolate i am used to, but nonetheless, i think anything on a stick is fun. I do prefer these to tootsie pops, and they last longer than dum dums, and the chocolate part does give you a good chocolate fix. So yes, these are pretty darn interesting, i really want to try the other flavors. FYI: ring pops aren't so bad either, only 70 calories each and you get an accessory, actually, i had a ring pop as my first engagement ring! Sure i was five and it was from this kid named Zac that went to pre school with me; the marriage didn't last long, we were separated by the end of recess. I regret not getting a prenup!
i had these. pretty good, i
i had these. pretty good, i think the strawberry's the best tho. a little tangy. the other two taste tropical kind of...like a wierd coconut? pina colada? idk
i realized about halfway
i realized about halfway through a very hesitant consumption of the lollipop that the chocolate in these candies tasted like the same chocolate in those chewable laxatives. Once i built that association it was really impossible to eat it any longer. nasty.
not real chocolate
notice on the ingredients both cocoa liqueur/cocoa butter isn't listed? Not real chocola, but mockolate instead! Give me a tootsie pop over these anyday!
