Vita Muffins!
September 10th, 2006 by hungry waif

Do you know the muffin man? if you do he should be hunted down for baking such highly caloric treats that are o so tasty and irresistable! But alas, Vitalicious has come up with a....gasp....healthy muffin. Well, healthier. According to their site, "Now you can indulge in chocolate, that's not only guilt-free, but good for you. " BUT, read the fine print, only a 2oz vita top (or a small muffin) is 100 cals, and a whole 4oz muffin (which is more realistically sized if you ask me compared to the pathetic tiny one that should be called a mini muffin) is 200 calories which may be a lot for a dessert for some people. And, again, they are not huge. Ok, now for the taste. They come in endless flavors but i tried the chocolate (cause ill eat anything chocolate), and to be honest it was Ok but if you ask me, nothing special and kinda tasted diet-y. For me, not worth the calories, or the hefty price tag (stores price them differently, but they are never cheap!). Well, i guess i'll spare the muffin man if he comes up with a healthy and TASTY muffin, but for now, he's still on the hit list.
hey you, it's AT from PS. I'm in love with the muffin.. too bad they don't sell these in dubai =(your blog's great food-porn! keep it up *hugz*
These are the BEST muffins ever! I order tham all the time and all of the flavors are amazing!!! Everyone, please try them - you'll LOVE them!
Hey, "Hungry Waif"... I think it's a little bit pathetic that you're trying so hard to copy Hungry Girl. Did you think people wouldn't know? Hungry Girl is one of the most popular, trafficked websites on the Internet. Everyone's aware of it. Aren't you embarrassed to so blatantly rip-off someone else's idea and creativity? If you want to have a blog, why not try to think of your OWN idea? But, if the best you can do is rip-off someone else's creativity, at least try not to be so obvious about it. "Hungry WAIF?" LOL.P.S. And if you're going to try and say you've never heard of Hungry Girl, then you're lying.
Hi there, Anonymous! I totally agree. Anyone out there who wants the REAL DEAL when it comes to the guru of good-tasting low-cal foods, go sign up at Hungry-Girl.com -- you will get the best emails every day!!!--Former Chubbette :)
The composer of this blog must not have much experience with dieting. A REGULAR muffin has a whole lot more calories and fat than these Vita-Muffins and for someone who has to watch both, these muffins are a great way to enjoy muffins without the guilt. You aren't going to find a chocolate muffin which is the equivalent of 1 point on the Weight Watchers diet that tastes like a Starbucks muffin! I think Vita-Muffin has done a pretty incredible job and thanks to them I can snack on something I look forward to and not feel guilty. Leave 'em alone!
I'm sorry, but I don't concur. 200 calories for a 4-oz muffin is awesome! I went to calorieking, and most large chocolate muffins packed more like 350 calories (and in a worst case scenario, like the Costco kind, 690! I might as well get a spicy chicken sandwich from Wendy's WITH mayo AND a junior frosty for that calorie punch! Tastes waaaaay better too.)I find 2-oz ones are a yummy alternative to the usual redundant nutrigrain bar and healthier too. If it's a little bland for you, just add a smidgen of sugar-free rasberry/strawberry jam.
I guess when it comes tp muffins, everyone has their own preferences...personally, i rather bake my own cause i can alter the taste and control the ingredients! there are plenty of lower calorie recipies for muffins too! try using the "No-Pudge Brownie Batter" and simply put it in a muffin tin for a delicious 100 calorie brownie!
Great Idea
Does it work to make muffins with No Pudge? I wonder if I would make a big 200 cal muffin. That would be good. Have U tried it?
You could definitley make a
You could definitely make a huge 200 cal muffin with No Pudge. But I really like that they have a recipe on the box for just making one serving at the time. This way you don't have a whole bunch of muffins or brownies lying around.
Yeah cuz
I have a major problem with bulk lying around! Are they good?
They are really good. The
They are really good. The single serving you're supposed to do in the microwave and its a little fluffy, but I think it tastes really good. I usually add a little extra mix and less yogurt to make it thicker.
K. WIll try for breakfast tomorrow
One more thing......what do you put it in to microwave and is there a certain kind of yogurt you use? Thx
I remember doing this with
I remember doing this with plain yogurt, but i friend of mine said she used the danon light 'nfit vanilla, i guess which ever you prefer
