Walden Farms Strawberry Fruit Spread!
August 31st, 2007 by hungry waif
Ya know, many other food review sites i think fear walden farms beacause of their "no calorie, no sugar, no fat (basically, no everything claim" becuase that leave the prioduct to consises of nothing much else but chemicals and salt. Ok, that aside, they have a point when it comes to most of the walden farms dressings ive tried and their chocolate dip. But i love their syrups and carmel dip, so they have an ok rep with me. And jelly, well many companies make sugar free versions. Some are not bad, i love the smuckers boysenberry and their strawberry is alright. And i actually forgot how much i love jelly. I used to have a peanut butter and sugar-jelly sandwich on whole wheat bread smushed on a hot gridle when i was in high school after dinner. Mmmm it was like a wholesome, warm, and sweet treat! I missed that, and i recently got a jar of the strawberry spread so i thought id start making this treat again. The spread (or jelly) was actually very delicious, spreadable, and best of all no chemically taste. i guess since it claims not to have calories, i couldn't see the actual chunks of strawberries like i am used to in the smuckers version. If you can get a hold it, i suggest you try, its nothing out of this world good like their caramel dip, but its pretty good. And by the way, this has nothing to do with the walden fruit spread, but Al and I are obsessed with this little clip from family guy that i think is celebrating the universal love of PB&J:

So the syrups are okay? I'm a little afraid of how fake they are... but it might just be worth it for that, I have a hard time finding a lesser calories decent syrup. What about the bbq sauce?

umm i used to be a fan of their bbq sauce but a got sick of it and now i cant look at it. its ok for adding to beans or maybe on boca burgers, but i sense they used a lot vinegar in it cause tis taste is very strong. not a definite hit but not terrible.

I made a great bbq chili with crumbled boca burger patties, onions, peppers, the bbq sauce, and pinto beans.

I need to get a recipe book from you or something, it seems like we have similar tastes. That chili sounds great!

I swear, the second i get out of culinary school, i'll write a cookbook, hopefully and editor will believe in my enough to market it. A cute ida for the chili is to take a small sourdough roll (the sourdough makes the crust strong), tear out the insides, and fill them with the chili. after your done, you have all the chili goodness soaked in your bread.
I do so love bread bowls,
I do so love bread bowls, they make my day. Even if an editor doesn't market it, I'll buy a copy for your recipe file, how's that? ;)
