Zen Bakery's Fiber Cakes!

Muffins are HUGE diet disasters. not because they are loaded with calories from mainly sugar and butter, but because there is usually a preconceived notion that they are a healthier alternative to other pastries. BUT, a krispy kreme regular glazed doughnut is only about 220 calories when most muffins are at least 400 calories. Hand me the kreme! Sorry, i digress...anywho, zen bakery offers their great fiber cakes which to me are basically mini-muffins. They are only 80 calories each with a whopping 13 grams of fiber! they come in yummy flavors like blueberry and apple-cranberry (but honestly, i prefer the blueberry). They might taste gritty eaten cold, so i suggest warming them up in the toaster oven or microwave (thanks Al for the tip!). You can find them a Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, online, or at the zen bakery itself (located in L.A.). A word of discretion, DO NOT BUY THE MUFFINS! the muffins from zen bakery are 220 calories, look for the fiber CAKES. The muffin man should get a hold of this stuff...

these are delish, but why caution the regular muffins? they are HUGE, and 220 calories is a bargain for the size - they are about 3 times the size of the fiber cakes. You should review them too! Zen Bakery also makes amazzzingg, huge cinamon buns for only 200 calories :)
I'm not sure why you think 220 calories is a lot for a muffin. At 220 calories, 10g of fiber, and 5g of fat, the apple cranberry bran muffins are perfect for breakfast or an afternoon snack. This is true even if you are dieting. That is the same amount of calories as a serving of oatmeal with 2 tbsp of flaxseeds or 2 slices of whole wheat toast. These muffins are awesome and I really recommend them.
Zen muffins
I had these tested and they are not FF and ARE NOT LOW CALORIE! They use tons of canola oil. Tons. Bceuase they were high in fat AND calories. This was 2 years ago but the carrot muffin was 550 cals and the FF cinnamon raisin cookies....300 (not 90 as they advertise) and the blurberry bran.....467....12 g fat
